Moving Prose from an Interplanetary Beast

The war is over, at least that's what everyone tells me. They also say things like "good job", "we couldn't have done it without you", "you made a good universe this time". I wonder what they mean by this time.

Well, I think it has something to do with that awful doctor. See, he was doing nothing but hurting the kids. I don't know if he really realized it, though. I really struggled to understand why he would do those things he did. He said it was for a better world, but is a world where you can't make any choices better? And is what you really wanted what he was really making?

The stew is simmering on the stovetop. The vegetables have softened to a nice chew. The sun is warm on my nose and the boys are out back, laughing about something or other. If only that doctor could see that this is the ideal ending.
