Quid Pro Quo

Most legal systems don't fight for the truth, they fight for a verdict in their client's favor. Because, often, the truth is an "ugly thing" to those who stand to "seek it". The policemen, the prosecutors, the defense attorneys, the judges, they're all in the pocket of the nation. People talk, money shouts. The true crime, Wright, is believing we can own humanity.

Anybody can be part of the legal system. Doesn't matter who you are or how much work you've done. Just walk into court with a badge and a suit, and nobody is any the wiser.

There's never one bad guy, or even a list of them. It's a spectrum of people, saints and sinners, good and evil; not to mention the neutrals caught up in all of this. But the truth is that there's no such thing as a good person or a bad person. They're only assigned those labels from our perspectives as people.

Is the ending only bad because it's built on the bodies of humanity? Because we all float individually in our own sacs, dreaming of our own perfect worlds, whilst the god of our own demise feeds off our withering bodies? Maybe you have a problem with that... I never had a choice.

That cacophonous array of sounds that pierces my mind, forces me to stay awake through the living horrors that encapsulate my existence. What a mess, I say, what a mess.
